Washington State Library's collection of Nelson Rounds' papers, 1826-1885.

The collection includes correspondence, personal and financial records, sermon notes, Clark County District 17 school records, Superintendent of Public instruction records. Of particular interest is some correspondence before his marriage when he was writing home to his family because he describes much of his activities and feelings in detail.

Nelson Rounds was born in New York State on May 4, 1807. Rounds graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA. He was a minister for the Methodist Episcopal Church of the Oneida Conference in NY for 8 years. Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank. Charles had become a banker by 1930. Between 1957 & 1958 Charles passed away. And Maud passed away on 29 May 1960 in Chehalis, WA.
